UW Writers' Institute and Other Fun Events

Happy belated St. Patrick's Day and Happy Spring!

As I write this, I'm looking out the window at snow.  It's Spring, and the snow won't last long but it would be really nice to have our warmer temperatures back.  I'm ready for crocus, daffodils, tulips, and muddy dog paws. There are so many fun things coming up, and I want to be sure you know about them.

First, the 26th Annual UW Writers' Institute is being held at the Madison Concourse Hotel this weekend.   If you have interest in learning more about writing, publishing or meeting with an agent/publisher, this is the place.  It was at this very conference I met my publisher, "pitched" my book, and just over one year later was holding my book in my hand.  The conference is packed with information.  And, it's not to late to register.

On Friday, during the lunch session, I'll be presenting on a panel of writers.  We'll be sharing our experiences.

Then on Saturday, I'll be in the book sales area with copies of The Little French Bakery Cookbook for sale and signing.

Laurie Scheer, Director of the conference, wrote this great piece for attendees:

What a writer could gain from a writing conference - 2015

If you've got a book rumbling around inside of you, I hope you'll attend!

Second, have you been thinking about joining me in Paris in October?

This Wednesday, March 25th, at 6:30 p.m. there will be an informational session by the Burkhalter Travel team.  It will be at the 6501 Mineral Point Road office in Madison.  If you'd like more info beforehand, you can contact them at 608-833-5200.

For of you who live outside of the Madison or Chicago area, there is a land-only package available so you could meet us in Paris.  Burkhalter will help coordinate your airfare so you arrive just in time to join the group.

There are so many fun things planned including time at Le Cordon Bleu, my pastry alma mater.

Third, is a new class for kids ages 10-14.

We'll meet three days in a row and learn about baking.  We'll make scones, cakes, muffins, cookies and also frost a cake.  It will be fun few days.  Lunch will be included.  Just visit the Classes page of this website to enroll your child.

Other Upcoming Book Events:

April 8th, Book Talk and Signing/Sales at the Verona Public Library

June 6th, 11-1 pm, Boelter Superstore, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  I'll be discussing the book, sharing samples, and signing books.  This is an amazing place with a huge selection of commercial quality kitchen supplies.  If you're in the Milwaukee area, I hope you'll stop by and say hi.

I'm way overdue to get behind the camera and into the kitchen to share new recipes and techniques with you.  Perhaps some fun recipes for entertaining during March Madness?  Go Badgers!
